Give us a short fashion trend report on SS2012 please.
Lots of all kind of prints… lots of colour-blocking again, from vivid to pastel to fluorescent-means you’ve got to own a pink, a yellow and a green pant this season!:) Another trend that finally reached Europe is the Navaho- or Native print! Wake up the little Pocahontas in yourself
! Of course you’ll find all that at G.point!
Who sets the fashion trends?
Various brands are actually designer inspired. Any designer attracting fame such as Louis Vuitton, Dolce&Gabbana, Isabel Marant etc. gets a great following and each time they come up with a new style, it automatically becomes the latest trend. And nowadays celebrities for example, tend to be the first ones to take up the new style and the mass follows that. Then, other brands that are more affordable to us, create a “cheaper” version of it and that is where Zara and many others come in!
What do you love about your job!?
That every day is different! I love the constant travelling, meeting new people, discover new brands, speak different languages, negotiate, pass an order and then be all excited when it gets to the store a few months later, observe the clients behaviour, analyse the sales. Of course it isn’t always “la vie en rose”… sometimes we buyers live sleepless nights… not knowing if a trend will come through or not, so we are praying that it will, so we sell these hundreds of pieces we have ordered
! It is a kind of a responsibility, trust me!
Some of your favourite fashion labels this summer?
As for G.point I love the new multicoloured pullover Brand JUST IN CASE , the bicoloured Japanese Denim OGE & Co as well as super skinny pants from APRIL 77. To “hang out” for sure the sweats from FREE CITY!
Talking high-end fashion: PRADA, all 50’s cars –inspired and candy-coloured, was my favourite! Something totally fresh and new!
